Maybe a little of topic, but worth mentioning.  The verdict is in – Jack Nicklaus beat out Tiger Woods in voting held by a Golf Magazine panel, called the Immortals Invitational listing the top all-time greatest golfers.

Below, are the final rankings:

  3. Bobby Jones – 265
  4. Ben Hogan – 231
  5. Sam Snead – 208
  6. Arnold Palmer – 199
  7. Byron Nelson – 196
  8. Mickey Wright – 142
  9. Gary Player – 141
  10. Walter Hagen – 124

Others receiving honorable mention? Tom Watson, Annika Sorenstam, Harry Vardon, Young Tom Morris, and Seve Ballesteros, Babe Zaharias, Gene Sarazen, Lee Trevino, Old Tom Morris, and Billy Casper.

Who missed the cut?  Nick Faldo, Peter Thomson, Greg Norman, Kathy Whitworth, James Braid, and J.H. Taylor.

Tiger Woods is in my opinion, the best player of all time hands down.  Not in even close.  No disrespect to the Bear, but Tiger’s all-around game has Jack beat.  I also would put Ben Hogan in the top three.  Hogan has probably the purest golf swing of all time.  There’s my 2 cents.

What do you think?
